This was one of my favorite of the white-washed towns (white is believed to keep the homes cool in the heat and the tiny roads and walkways were created for maximum shade). I loved glancing in the open doors while walking around. Almost every home had plants in their doorways, a little parked scooter and the sounds of utensils and smells of cooking. It was a little chunk of heaven.

Original Post: Andrew and I just got back from vacation! 12 nights, 15 cities, 9 hotels, 2 trains, 1 boat, a cable car, a rented car, 2 beaches, 1 territory, 3 countries and 2 continents. We flew in and out of Lisbon, Portugal and toured central/southern Portugal, Southern Spain and Morocco in between. All in all, an amazing last two weeks! Castles, white-washed towns, monkeys, vinho verde, hog roast, stone soup, gelato, tiny streets, 90 degree weather, a fado show, a flamenco show and tons of adventure.

I took "vacation time" about the same time you did. And I didn't end up going anywhere. I was feeling kind of bum about that. And I recently was telling a friend how I wanted to visit Portugal.
I have followed your blog for many years. Crazy, huh.
Well, thank you for these photos.

By the way, how has your knee (?) been since you injured it during the marathon?

Have a great weekend!
See ya Monday. ;)

@ Belle: Thanks so much for asking about my knee. I took a few weeks off from running to let it heal and I started running again this week and it's fine so far! I hope you had a nice break! And I do recommend Portugal. Best, –Naomi
